We went to Kansas City for the Big 12 basketball tournament. March 2023

We went to Kansas city for the mens and womens big 12 basketball tournament. The idea was to get an Airbnb near downtown so that we could uber to the games, get the cheapest tickets possible the day of the game then just sit anywhere we saw an open seat. A lot of people buy all session passes to all 9 games then rarely make it to more than half. Also each session is 2 games, so a lot of people will get tickets to one session but only watch their team play. So in theory it shouldn’t be too difficult to buy the cheap tickets then move down to an open seat closer to the court. This strategy worked out really well. The first day we paid $9 a ticket and sat about 8 rows from the court, watching WVU beat TTU then OSU beat OU. We liked the seats so much that we sat there again the next day. Unfortunately my pokes lost to eventual conference champs Texas but we got to see another good game in TCU and Kansas State.

We used the same strategy for the Women's tournament, the tickets there were $10 a person but we did find our way down behind the bench. We got to see what was probably the best game of the weekend with OSU hitting a buzzer beater to knock off WVU then losing a close game the following day to Texas.

Basketball wasn’t the only thing on our to-do list, we made time to see the WW1 museum, which might be one of the most well done museums i have ever been to. We spent about 2 hours there and I feel like we could have easily spent twice that. We went to the federal reserve and went to the money museum (which is free by the way), they had coins from each president so you could see how the currency has changed throughout the years as well as a window to see into the reserve itself. It's interesting to see how much of the printing and shredding is done by robots. It's definitely a must see if you are ever there.

P.S. The BBQ was good but I'm not sure it was head and shoulders better than what we have in Tulsa. It was definitely more expensive though.
