Night to Shine is Amazing. February 2023
On friday the 10th the Tim Tebow foundation put on their annual Night to Shine prom event, we have been a few times before but its been awhile due to covid, illnesses and other scheduling conflicts. I believe there were around 950 guests this year which is an amazing turnout. If you are unfamiliar with night to shine, it's a prom event for anyone with special needs, they have a large dance floor, chick-fil-a, karaoke, caricatures, and limo rides. The event itself is 3 hours and was at the cox convention center this year. I think one of the funniest moments of the event was when we were in line to check in and Stryker, a good friend of Clarks came up to us to say hi, then said “The peanut butter box is here” and immediately left to get back in line. I guess it's from a commercial that he’s been repeating a lot lately but it had us laughing pretty good, Stryker is always being a comedian.
Clarks big thing is always to first hit up the food line, then either dance or sing karaoke. We always find time to do all 3. I don't know what time chick-fil-a got there to set up for serving that many people but i was surprised with how fresh the food was. It truly felt like they were serving them straight from the kitchen. As for the Karaoke he brought down the house with Can’t stop the feeling, then we proceeded to dance until he had had enough. Which couldn’t come soon enough for me, i felt like i had cycled through my few white guy dance moves many times.
Night to shine is always looking for more volunteers, if this is something you think you might be interested in helping out with next year, or you have a teenage child who you might want to help out with, please let me know. I am more than happy to help answer any questions about the event or how to sign up. We went as Clark’s buddies, basically mean we stay with him the whole night and make sure he has as much fun as possible but there are many other positions that need help as well.
